Stage Manager

The Stage Manager is the practical and organisational support to the Creative team, actors, designers, stage crew, and technicians throughout the production process.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:
● Guiding Assistant Stage Managers (ASM) and Stagehands, whose main responsibility will be to assist in all stage management duties during the show.
● Aiding during the audition and callback process.
● Creating a rehearsal schedule and coordinating with all Creatives and the Production Manager to find appropriate spaces.
● Attending every rehearsal (or coordinating an ASM to be present) to record blocking and production notes.
● Creating rehearsal notes to communicate important production information to the designers.
● Having a working understanding of the director’s concept and the ability to step in during rehearsal if the director is in need of assistance.
● Being present as a resource for actors
● Attending Executive, Creative, and Production Team meetings: the Stage Manager is a communication based role, and needs to be able to relay information between groups.
● Creating all necessary paperwork for the production: costume quick change lists, props list, cue (sound, lighting, set change) lists, track sheets, contact sheets, etc.
● Writing, with the ASMs, a detailed prompt book that has all relevant information to perfectly recreate the show.
● The prompt book should include: blocking, technical cues, rehearsal reports, company contact information, etc.
● Calling all technical cues during the show.
● Running show nights from everyone’s arrival through everyone leaving the theatre.
